How to post/reply in the Discussion Group
Some assignments require you to post in the course discussion groups. You will access the Discussion Groups within the Main Menu dropdown box.
Locate the necessary Group Name (Module) and Subject (Assignment/Title) that correlates with your specific assignment, and click on the Group Name link. Next, click on the Subject Title and read the assignment directions, posted by me.
To post your assignment, simply click the 'new message' link from the options at the bottom of the page. DO NOT post your assignment as a reply! Type a title for your post next to 'Subject', and then type your assignment in the text box. Make sure to click on the Spell Check button to identify any spelling or grammar errors, and then scroll down (you do not need to post to any other area), then click on 'Submit'.
To reply to another student's post, simply click the 'reply to this message' link under the student's post. Please make sure that your response is not only respectful, but also meaningful. As always, write in complete sentences! Don't forget to address the person you are replying to, and sign your name at the bottom of your reply.
Below are some examples of good and poor replies.
Please note: You are ONLY allowed to discuss the assignment in the Discussion Groups!

GOOD EXAMPLES OF A REPLY POST
"Hi John, my name is Ben. I really like how you compared the Roman Republic to our government today. They had three parts to their government just like we do! Which one do you think is a better representation of how government should be? I think there are positives and negatives to both. -Ben" "Jessica, I agree with what you said about paper being the most important Chinese contribution. I wonder what the world would be like today without paper. Could you imagine if we still wrote on clay tablets?! Maria" "Hi Justin. Although you made some good points about meat being an important part of your diet, however I disagree that you cannot be healthy without eating it. I think that a diet of fruits and vegetables gives you better nutrition than some of those fatty meats out there. You can get your protein from other foods, and avoid the risk of getting sick from undercooked or contaminated meats. I know everyone is different, but a meat-free diet is my preference. Your classmate, Jacob" |
POOR EXAMPLES OF A REPLY POST
"Good job John!" "You spelled a word wrong in your post." "I agree!" |
